BANNING !!!
One Voice thinks that it is time to get rid of the legal exception that allows animals to be tortured legally in certain regions in France in the name of tradition. Through information, awareness and support actions, ONE VOICE is taking a stand against all shows involving bulls, and bullfighting in particular.
Bullfighting is far from the even contest its supporters would have us believe. Unacceptable transport conditions; acts of torture inflicted on the animal before it enters the arena: amputation of its horns, its method of defence, to protect the bullfighter; death-blows defined to the exact millimetre; degrees of violence… and, of course, the death of the bull. This spectacle of death that pretends to be a fair fight is actually an apology for cruelty and violence that One Voice strongly denounces.
Yet, in France, animal protection law condemns these acts of torture. So why is bullfighting allowed in our country? This is an inconsistency in the law that allows these shows to go ahead in certain regions, especially those where an "unbroken tradition" can be claimed. One Voice joins those who are demanding a revision of this inconsistent and unfair law, especially as this type of show is open to children with no age limit, as is the case in France. Many doctors and psychiatrists recognise that in certain fragile people bullfighting can only glorify violence and threaten their mental health. For the protection of future generations, One Voice is demanding the immediate banning of bullfighting for children under 16, while awaiting the immediate disappearance of bullfighting from French arenas.
Through its actions, its support for those trying to see bullfighting abolished and its information campaigns, including in schools, One Voice is campaigning for an outright ban on bullfighting and its related activities.
73 % of French people say they are opposed to bullfighting.
